Trimane Open Analytics (for Moodle)

Trimane open analytics is a powerfull report generator product providing strong data analysis capabilities in a democratic, low cost solution.

Trimane Open Analytics for MoodleTrimane Analystics for Moodle is simple to operate: it will extract each week from an operative LMS underlying database significant "facts" bound to the user's activity and will process them and store them in "data cubes".

Extracted facts are thus qualified using several criteria, organized in hierarchical axis providing multiple scales and "points of view" and allowing any crossing of all those dimensions.

The product is a processing chains that provides an extractor (ETL : Extract Transform and Load) from the Pentaho open source distribution, stores results in an independant database (datawarehouse), and generates any kind of report addressed to a selection of users.

The product allows setup, generation, and memorization of any kind of criteria combination, adding here or there constraints to focuss to a prticular area of the resultset. Making reports WILL NOT REQUIRE any special technical sill, but only a good comprehension of functional model of the LMS.

The specific Moodle version installs easily, and provides a suitable extraction model mapped to main Moodle information.

Trimane Open Analytics and user's privacy concerns

Most of Trimane Open Analytics for Moodle anaysis are based on user's logs. If required, the extracted tracks can be anonymized in the early steps of extraction, thus avoiding any identification of further results.

As a standalone application, the Trimane Open Analytics tool provides its own login access page. Inthe Moodle dedicated version, a full SSO integration is provided for Moodle users. According to some capabilites and roles that will be assigned to him, the user will be able to administrate the tool, configure reports or just being able to read them.

The dashboard allows accessing to all reports you have creatredor reports other users have published to your attention. You will be able to renew the report information playing it again, export the report's results to Excel or just watch the current state of the report.

Creating reports

Some users can create new reports. This section will propose a query configurator allowing to choose axis, dimensions and adding constraints. Base compiled value and dimensions will depend on the data cube wich is being used.

You might:

- Setup conditions upon base values.
- Add contraints to dimensions and qualifiers you have selected.
- Choose the type of aggregation you will proceed on your base values.
- Propose invites to the report recipients, i.e. propose to users that will renew the report output to choose somes values for some parameters.
